Sandra Mangas Hernandez
Want to really impress your holiday guests? We came across these insanely cool treats that are baked inside egg shells – so an innocent-looking egg can be cracked to reveal delicious, delectable brownies. Sandra Mangas Hernandez, a 36-year-old mom and food blogger based in Spain, created the dish after wanting to experiment with her baking.
"I wanted to create something different, and I had long been playing with the idea of cooking a cake inside an eggshell," she told TODAY.com via e-mail. "So I started looking up for information in Google about salmonella, which worried me when using eggshells to cook the brownies. I found out that many people have had the same idea of cooking inside an eggshell before … cakes, Jell-O, puddings… so I just decided what I wanted to do: a funny dessert that looks like a boiled egg, but hides a delicious brownie inside."

She first debuted the treats at a dinner party with some fellow food bloggers and was nervous at the reception they’d get.
"Before dinner was over, I took out an egg tray out of my purse full of brownieggs, and placed it over the table,” she said. "'Have you brought eggs to a restaurant?' they asked. I started peeling off one of the eggs, and then the brownie appeared – and oh, it was such a fun to see their faces! They loved the idea, and their kids tasted the brownies and wanted to have seconds!"

Sandra, who says she was once a disaster in the kitchen, started improving her skills four years ago after her sons were born. In 2008, she started her food blog La Receta de la Felicidad (translated to The Recipe for Happiness) where, she says, the wild experiments won’t be stopping anytime soon.

Why would you have to worry about salmonella when they are being baked? I would still rinse them out so that you don't have baked egg on the outside of the brownie. These look fabulous, tasty and, most of all, fun! Thank you Vidya.
Arn't brownies made with egg? Well, punch a hole in the top, figure out a way to mix it up, suck out 1/2 egg, pump in bronie mix, stir, seal opening at top, bake and wallaaaaaaa!! Somebody's got to invent a devise that does all that stuff!
