Martha throws the perfect Thanksgiving party -- do you?

Domestic diva Martha Stewart and the TODAY gang enjoy a holiday meal and learn how create fun and festive place settings.

Martha Stewart is often a guest in TODAY’s Kitchen, but this year, the TODAY family got a taste of Thanksgiving at the home of the ultimate hostess.

Martha invited Matt, Ann, Al and Natalie over to her sprawling home in Bedford, N.Y. Before they got a chance to eat though, Martha put the TODAY anchors to work. Matt was charged with collecting eggs from the chicken coop, Al helped churn out sweet apple cider on a vintage press and Natalie made cider bourbon cocktails.

While peeling apples, Matt quipped, “Making apple pie? There’s a perfectly good Shop Rite down the street.”

But one thing he couldn’t deny was how detail oriented and, well, perfect Martha is when it comes to being a hostess.

“You know, you look at the magazine, Martha Stewart Living, and you think, ‘Wow this stuff could never be real ... and in her house, it’s all in real life,” Matt added. “From the fire, to the table to the cornbread in the shape of a turkey —”

“It was like, perfect!” Ann said.

Martha is definitely a Thanksgiving overachiever. Tell us: Are you a perfectionist when it comes to throwing a party? On what detail are you a real stickler?

Good Morning. I'll be honest with you. I don't care for Martha Stewart very much. After what she did, no matter how long ago it was, it seems like yesterday. I don't read her books or magazines anymore. I don't use any of her tips, which, she probably got from someone else anyway. I think some people were much too forgiving, including the Today Show. I watch the show everymorning, except when Martha Stewart is on there. The Food Network is great! Happy Thanksgiving to all. Twin 1

Who cares who made all that. Martha has made her empire what it is and doesn't need to do the menial work. And "after what she did"? What about the large corporations and bankers what they did. We bailed them out and they are not paying for their dirty deeds. Atleast she served her time! You go Martha!!!! You made it!

It DOE matter! Because if she has a whole freakin' army of helpers doing all the work, she looks perfect and the rest of us feel pathetic! If I was as rich as her, of COURSE I could throw the perfect party. But I'm getting sick and tired of these domestic mavens making the rest of us feel like crap when we have these phony examples with armies of staff doing the dirty work. Her own daughter has had some choice words about her. If Martha had spent more time with her kids, then MAYBE I could have some respect for her.

Martha Stewart- please, I very tired of seeing TV Personalities and Corporate Execs getting away with breaking the laws and still are able to continue to make millions of dollars, excuse me, but isnt she a FELON- I thought Felons couldn't hold these type of jobs???? Well, you know what they say? It's not what you know, its who you b---!

She served her time. She is now allowed to do whatever she pleases, within the confines of the law of course.

And, by the way, jobs like what? cooking, entertaining, huh!

Yes, she does give perfect parties - lots of wonderful ideas. Now if we could serve something else besides green bean casserole, turn off the TV during dinner, and teach the kids to behave at the dinner table . . . . . we would all enjoy Thanksgiving dinner . . ...

She can afford to be the perfect hostess! The rest of us actually live in the real world, thank you very much. I prefer to spend my time with my kids instead of slaving in the kitchen or on my sewing machine, making every little detail "perfect".

mm, yeah. somehow I just don't think she did everything all by her little self, lol. But, whatever cooks your goose...

Every member of Congress gets rich on information not available to the public/aka insider trading and you can be sure none of them will do any prison time. At least Martha paid for her mistake; she deserves a break.... every member of Congress needs to be thrown out!

Thanksgiving at the Bedford Home of Martha........not the way 99% of Americans celebrate and prepare for Thanksgiving. The ToDay Show is such a joke...Why don't you go to a middle class home to show us how they prepare for Thanksgiving....How the Today's Show crew makes such a fuss over this women is beyond me.....she was convicted and did time.....right.....

Aren't we Grumpy!!! You resent the "Army of Helpers"? Martha provides jobs---prob'ly more than You Know Who! There's a lot of envy going on here! Love you, Martha.

WOW, Jealous anyone? In this and age, with parents NOT teaching their children how to feed themselves, you should let her do her thing and be happy.

I'm sure some items are not original from Martha, Heck mine aren't either. She performs a great service to all to remind people of how and what to do for the holiday's and for the children.

                  Grow up peeps....

Martha Stewart is so old school. No one cooks much anymore. How do you host a Thanksgiving Party? Easy. Go to your local supermarket and pre-order a perfectly cooked Turkey. Then buy some mash potato mixes and whip them up. Get some pre-made pumpkin or apple pies and you're set. EASY!!!

After the party is over, put the dishes into the diswasher and watch the football game.

Martha wasn't convicted of insider trading. She was convicted of obstruction of justice because they didn't have adequate evidence to convict her of insider trading. And, what was her crime that was considered obstruction of justice? She changed a phone message on her computer she had received from someone who WAS convicted of insider trading, thought better of it, and changed it back to what it originally said; all BEFORE the feds took her computer away, and scrutinized every action on it, and found the phone message change. And for THAT she got a year in prison. I SAW the fed's indictment; I know this is correct. And, why is she famous? Because when Martha was starting out, she DID do everything with perfection as a caterer, and homemaker by paying attention to detail, and thinking of the comfort of her guests. Love her and admire what she has done!

As I mentioned in a previous post, which seems to have disapeared (?) that I thought it was in many ways very insensitive to show such oppulence on Thanksgiving Day, when so many people are struggling just to put food on the table. Would have been much more impressive to have seen the food brought to a food kitchen and shared.
