Competitive eating champions Joey Chestnut and Sonya Thomas explain how they came out on top at this year's Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, eating 62 and 40 hotdogs, respectively, in 10 minutes.
The gluttonous champs of the 96th annual Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest came down to the plaza to bask in the glory of victory. Joey Chestnut took the title for them men’s division with 62 hot dogs, while tiny Sonya Thomas represented for the ladies with 40 hot dogs. Chestnut could barely look at the dogs in front of him, telling Natalie Morales, “They’re delicious, but I’m still digesting them.” He later offered to split one with her.
“I’ll be using Pepto-Bismol tonight,” he said.
